Clearing up the Undrafted Free Agency Sweepstakes

Of the hundreds of guys who go undrafted each year, some of them give up the dream of playing football and opt for further education like New Hampshire's Scott Sicko (DBI wishes you the best of luck by the way Scott). Some give up on the NFL and go play elsewhere but some of the luckier ones get picked up by NFL teams as Undrafted Free Agents. Some of these guys even end up being paid more than their colleagues drafted in rounds 5 onwards. How does that happen? Well quite simply, some of these guys are in very high demand with several teams chasing their signature. Competition, as any agent will tell you, is going to get you paid more.

Sure lots of guys signed as UDFAs are nothing but camp fodder but for some they have a chance to earn a spot in the league and for some, it's as more than a Special Teams demon and backup. Take a look at this lineup:

Jan. 2nd Bowl Breakdown-Draft edition

The marathon that is the Bowl season continues today with more great games.  Word is one of the top CBs in the 2010 draft, Oklahoma State's Perrish Cox will not be playing for violation of team rules, and concensus NO.1 offensive tackle Russell Okung hurt his knee in practice this will and will at the least be limited but may not play at all.  But here's the rest of the players to watch.

Snap Judgments-Week 13 college football

College football never fails to disappoint if you are a fan. This weekend, when most non-college fans said would be a dull holiday weekend for the NCAA, it was once again incredibly exciting with top ranked teams falling in rivalry games, being pushed to overtime, and in terms of players, the Heisman Trophy picture comes into view.

I have a ton of games to comment on, so let's pop it off!!!

Week 12 in college football-Snap Judgement

I was really hoping as I sat down to type this, that something over the weekend would have really sparked my interest and given me that topic to write about this week for my snap judgment.  A game or a performance so epic I had to expound on it.  And well, something kinda did.

College Football Preview Week 8

There was a part of me that was thinking that by this point in the season, I’d be dreading my Wednesday night/Thursday morning ritual of getting this preview article done. But that is never the case. For me even a weekend like this, that isn’t full of big matchups still gets me pumped for the weekend.

This weekend’s slate of games is lacking star power in terms of matchups, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of story lines to keep an eye on and some great football to see.

I’ll start with my poor Sooners. They travel to Lawrence this weekend to battle the Kansas Jayhawks. The Hawks and Sooners both came into the season with huge expectations and for different reasons, both have failed to live up to them. I read on ESPN yesterday that Continue Reading >>>

College Football Preview Week 6

There is a giant all you can eat buffet of college football this week, especially as we are a few weeks into the conference schedules.  But let's be honest, this week is all about the Florida Gators traveling to Baton Rouge to go to war with the LSU Tigers.

The big drama of this game hasn't been it's a matchup of two of the best teams in the country, which it should be, but all about the health of Tim Tebow.  For this preview, I'm going to break this game down, because I don't believe that Tebow being on the field is really going to matter.

So far this season, the impact that Tim Tebow has had on his team has been largely ceremonial.  He's a team leader, a general on the field, and the rallying point for the entire team.  But in terms of what he's been asked to do on the field, his role this year has been
