WRs
(4-wide)─Baskett can
really extend for the ball, as he did on a slant with a
defender making contact, securing a difficult catch
cleanly with his hands.
Mix doesn’t have the quickness
of the other big WRs. The WRs didn’t get much of an
opportunity to showcase themselves with a number of deep
routes missed on underthrows.
Skyler Green was running
dashes on the sidelines and didn’t join the practice
until 45 minutes in.
RBs─Hall, again, clearly came to Mobile hoping to make an
impression with every touch of the football.
DeAngelo
Williams is simply great to watch, if there’s something
not to like about him, it’s not apparent to the naked
eye.
Addai had shown a nice mix of speed and power, but
added a 20-yard reception that drew stadium-wide "oohs"
and "ahhs" to his performance this week.
11-on-11─ QBs threw a
bit better as this practice went on, but still lacked
the dynamic of accuracy and timing that warrants some of
the praise in the media coverage this week.
One of
Hackney’s best throws of the week was picked off by
Griffin,
showing great hands for the ball on a corner fade, and
nice body control keeping his feet in bounds.
Redzone─ While
appearing solid in routes and receptions, Sinorice Moss
has been most striking with his quickness on reverses
and screens (despite one drop on a pitch from DeAngelo
Williams).
Obomanu had solid receptions in practice,
particularly with an athletic move to beat Minter on a
slant and poor throw from Croyle (adjustments the South
WRs had to make too often).
Baskett again demonstrates
his skill on a short yardage fade to the corner making a
spectacular jump and catch. Shockley missed a FB screen
with a low throw.
Addai, split wide, dropped a ball he
should’ve caught, but it’s worth noting that no other
RBs have shown the versatility to warrant playing in
that spot.
7-on-7─Shockley
continues to disappoint with a terrible overthrow to
Moss on a deep out.
Croyle missed Moss just as badly
despite nice separation on a deep post against Watkins,
but overall Croyle threw better looking balls, a bit
more accurate than the other QBs.
OL drills
─Cook still working at RT, after Anderson beats him
outside, and extensive coach critiquing, Lawson sells
outside, and gets leverage to cut back inside, tossing
Cook aside with ease. Like Scott at RT, both looked
significantly less comfortable in their reps than when
they played at their natural positions (an interesting
exception being Scott long-snapping, where he was on
target on punts, FG or extra point attempts once).
