Rice has a lot of great tools NFL scouts look for. He's got great height, long arms and huge hands. He's got very good speed, and at times, shows flashes of greatness. He's got great body control, solid hands and is as good as any wide receiver in the country at going up and getting the football. Rice runs very good routes, and finds a way to get separation against press coverage. He's also very good after the catch.
NEGATIVES
All the positives above should be followed with, "sometimes". Rice was very up and down this season. Some games he looked like the best WR in the country, others he was invisible. His lack of consistency is his biggest downfall. You watch Rice for a whole season and you can see he's a complete wide out, but you also realize quickly, some games, he's just not out there. After two seasons, I can't tell you why for sure, but it happens.
FINAL WORD
Rice = Huge potential. I was a little surprised that he declared this year as a red shirt sophomore, because he didn't have his best year by any stretch. He looks to be one of the first four or five wide outs off the board on potential and measureables alone, and if he can take all the gifts he has, and put it together every week, he'll certainly warrant that high draft pick.
