Ginn is a playmaker in the truest sense. He's got ridiculous speed, and shows amazing ability after the catch, as well as in the return game. Runs rock solid routes, and his hands has consistently improved over the course of the past two seasons, doing far better limiting catch with his body, which shows with his runs after the catch. Far and away the most dangerous return man in the country, and just like on offense, is a threat to score on every play. Probably the fastest riser in the draft, based on the highlight reel plays he seems to make on a weekly basis.
NEGATIVES
Doesn't have great size. Listed at 6-0, but I will be surprised to see him hit that, when he gets measured at the combine. Not a real strong player, and although he's a good leaper, doesn't have that "go up and get it" type of playmaking ability. One has to wonder if he's a no. 1 in the NFL, or a better complimentary player.
FINAL WORD
This is a great wide out class, and so getting Ginn up high, into the first round is going to take a couple of things. First, Ginn needs to finish the season very strong. He's also going to need to have some filthy combine numbers. When you are going against guys like Calvin Johnson, Dewayne Jarrett, and Jeff Samardzija, and you are under 6-0, you are going to have to do something to set yourself apart from those tall trees, and for Ginn, it's his insane speed, and unmatched kick return ability. My bold prediction is, Ginn works his way into the no. 2 spot among wide outs, because this is a league that covets the homerun threat, and there may not be a better one in this draft. The kind of player that Ted Ginn is appears to be very much in vogue right now. A little undersized, but incredibly explosive. Get him the ball on a run, or in space, and he can make defensive players look silly. A lot of folks say the fact he's a little small, is going to hurt him, in the NFL, and I agree, he could put on a few pounds, but with players like Steve Smith and Santana Moss can become elite, there's no doubt, Ginn can too. Add in his kick/punt return ability, and he's one of the most intriguing prospects in the country.
