POSITIVES

Griffin is probably the most physical safety in the draft. He’s surprisingly smooth in coverage and delivers a wallop. Very fast, particularly field speed, and goes after anyone with a football with a total lack of respect. Probably the best all around safety in this draft, being able to drop in coverage with great technique and speed, and will play the run like a linebacker who hits like a truck. He’s a hard worker who never gives up on a play, and even excels on special teams.

NEGATIVES

Griffin doesn't have the build to support his style of play. If he were a little bigger he'd be more durable which could benefit him greatly. He isn't the most fundamentally sound tackler, and does have a tendency to miss some plays trying to get the big hit. Griffin’s biggest area for improvement, to me, is his inability to get off blockers. Once an offensive player has his hands on Griffin, he really struggles to clear them to make plays. He needs to be stronger at the point of attack.

FINAL WORD

Very versatile, Griffin looks to be able to play either safety spot in the NFL and even some corner if need be. He really came on strong this season, and has a ton of experience. There are a lot of things Griffin will need to get better at, particularly tacking and shedding blockers, but he's a day one starter for any team. For me he would make a great Cover 2 strong safety where he can support the run and make plays.
