POSITIVES

Pittman has an ideal RB body. Short legs, strong, and thick chest. He runs hard, and keeps his center of gravity low, and takes care of the football. He's got great vision, and shows good patience, waiting for the play to develop, and hits the hole hard. Shows a good feel for the end zone, and seems to get better, the more touches he gets in a game. Pretty good at pass protection, and has shown decent hands in the passing game, although he's not used heavily. One thing that really stands out about Pittman is how he's always going forward. With very little wasted movement, he's always working toward positive yardage. In the open Field, Pittman is more apt to initiate contact, rather than avoid it, but you can't say he doesn't finish his runs.

NEGATIVES

Doesn't have great speed, and gets caught from behind. His arsenal of moves is very limited, opting more for the hit the hole, and get what you get, type of running style. Pittman suffers because, like so many outstanding college running backs, he does most everything well, but doesn't really stand out, in any particular area.

FINAL WORD

Really came on strong, at the end of his sophomore year, and is carrying that into this season. Has had some of his best games, against the best team's Ohio State has played, and that's a plus. Very much a blue collar type player, and could end up a solid NFL starter, but he's not particularly shifty, or fast, and hasn't shown the explosion, that seems to be the standard for NFL backs, these days. Pittman is only a junior, but with the emergence of super freshman, Chris Wells, his draft stock may be no higher. How he plays in the BCS title game, could impact his decision to go pro or not.
