Johnson has great size. He's built rock solid and has some serious lower body power. One thing that really stands out watching Johnson play is just how polished he is as a player. He's got a ton of pass rush moves, really works hard to get under his blockers and diagnoses plays quickly. He is also an amazing tackler. Johnson is very athletic and works well against smaller blockers, working off cut blocks and shedding players with ease. He's got very good pursuit speed and plays the run very well.
NEGATIVES
How Johnson does when he isn't lining up opposite Quentin Moses, faces more double teams will be the question. He seems to struggle when he is doubled up and tends to give up on plays if he doesn't win the fight quickly. He's pretty quick and does well in pursuit but I don't know that he'll time well. Johnson had a big season but one has to wonder how much better he can get.
FINAL WORD
Johnson is an underrated player. No, he's not as tall as some would like, and he won't run a Dwight Freeney type of 40, but in terms of being a pure 4-3 rush end he might be the surest thing in the draft. He's not as big as guys like Anderson of Carriker but he's got an explosive first step and finds his way to the QB. That is what matters. Johnson reminds me a lot of Tamba Hali.
