Hall is a very physical player who uses his size and bulk to work receivers. His mass and strength also makes him stout in run support. He shows pretty good hip turn and is a fairly smooth coverage player, but his real strength is his ball skills. He may not always look the prettiest getting to the ball, but he gets there. Probably Hall's greatest positives are his smarts, and his experience. He shows solid technique, and good fundamentals.
NEGATIVES
Hall just isn’t an elite player and he doesn't have that premier speed and elite size. At times he gives way too much cushion, so he doesn't give up the big play. Hall also struggles in man coverage when he gets outrun. For all his experience, the scheme he played in at Michigan kept him away from the other team's best WRs much of the time. Some have indicated that he's more of safety than CB because of his struggles in man coverage, but for me, Hall is more of a zone Cover-2 type player.
FINAL WORD
Hall is a very good prospect who'll probably get drafted earlier than he should because of an average CB class. He's got a lot going for him, mostly from a technical standpoint. But from a physical standpoint, a team that is going to play a lot of press man isn't going to want a guy who can't run with wide outs. As I said before, Hall seems to be an ideal prospect for a Cover 2 team because he's fearless against the run, a very good tackler and can make plays on the ball in a centerfield type role.
